Tim Holtz 12 Tags of Christmas - Day Twelve

Well I can hardly believe that it's the last day of Tim's 12 Tags of Christmas...I'm not too sure what I'll do with myself tomorrow. Maybe I'll finally cook for my family and change out of my PJ's...yeah...that will be nice... Today, Tim's tag was another amazing creation along with a tutorial on how to make these beautiful flowers. Aren't they fantastic!? It looks like it they would be difficult to create but Tim created a step-by-step picture tutorial and they're really easy - yeah! Tim used grunge paper (have to get my hands on some of that!) but I just used cardstock and it worked fine. I also don't have any flower die cuts so I found a chipboard flower and just traced out the pattern on the cardstock. Tim used a homemade pearl ex mixture to mist his flowers and I do happen to own one bottle of pearl ex, in a copper color. To add a bit more color to the petals, I applied some wet ink to the petals before misting with the pearl ex mixture. I also added ink around the edges of the petals once all my color was applied and dry. The photos make the flower look a bit more brown than it is, in person it has a definite copper shimmer to it...very pretty. Since I was creating my flower while my two boys were playing WWF in the living room, I opted to create only one so that I could finish quickly and referee the wrestling match (what is it with boys and wrestling??). I created the background by first adding distress ink before layering sanded and swirl background images. A piece of torn vellum went down next and then I used a recently released Papertreyink set for the leaves, which were cut out and attached under the flower. I also added a copper embossed, scalloped trim to the top and bottom...to keep with that copper theme. A sentiment, also from PTI, was the finishing touch! And that brings me to the end of a very exciting 12 days of creating! Tim...it's been a blast, thank you so much! I'll leave you with a photo of my little one's creations...Aren't they cute? All of his backgrounds were created with distress and alcohol inks. He has yet to stamp anything on them but he sure does love putting ink down on the tags...And how about his foil tag? He did the whole thing himself! It makes a mother proud...
Have a wonderful evening and I'll be back...will something to share...someone remind me how to make a regular card again...
