Stencil Techniques for Cards

Hi all! It's been another hot minute! LOL! It's taken me a few weeks to put together this video as I've been working around my 9-5 job as well as uploading more products loaded into my Etsy story and learning how to create YouTube shorts. It's all a bunch of fun but time consuming!

That said, I am excited to share a new video and five new cards featuring background created with stencils. I am a huge fan of stencils and they are so much fun to use with a variety of products, from inks to sprays to pastes. All of the techniques shown in this week's video can easily be translated to art journals and scrapbook pages.

I hope you enjoy the video - would love if you subscribed - and please visit my Etsy store, Paper Petals, and my brand new Facebook page that will feature product highlights, notices when videos are posted, sales, and more!

Enjoy and happy crafting!

Creating Cards with Coordinating Layered Stencils & Embossing Folders

Hello friends and happy new year! Welcome back to another blog post! It's been a while and my goal of two videos per month has fallen to more like one per month. Someone remind me how I found the time to create more videos than I do now when I had two young children. *wink* I guess the 'ol 9-5 job really does take up a lot of my time. And at the end of the day, I don't have the same energy that I used to when I would hit the craft room and stay up until midnight. That person is much older and far more tired now. LOL!

Anyway, I'm super excited about my latest project, which features just one product...a layered stencil and 3D embossing folder set from Altenew. I am a huge fan of all things mushrooms and when I saw this set, I had to get it! I had a great time creating four different cards using just the set, some inks, markers, and embossing power. I would classify these as clean and simple - even though some of the coloring is a little time consuming - and are primarily one layer cards. Check out the video below to see how I created each card and for tips and tricks you can follow to create your own. The video discusses, Copic marker coloring, using blending tools and ink, a fun embossing technique, and creating a spotlight card.

Once you're finished with the video, go grab yourself some supplies and start creating! Also, be sure to visit my Etsy shop, where I sell lots of gently used stamps and dies for low, low prices. Nearly 100 items in the shop - more to be added - and most are between $5-10! Enjoy!

Wendy Vecchi Inspired Mini Photo Album

Visit my new Etsy store where I sell gently used craft supplies for low, low prices!

Hello, friends, and welcome back to the blog! I'm super excited about this month's project, which features newly release products from Wendy Vecchi, used to create this sweet vertical mini photo album.

As soon as I saw Wendy showcase these dies on her Facebook page, I knew that I had to have them, especially after landing on the idea of creating a mini book or journal. The pocket die was released (by Spellbinders) a while ago and in mid-October Wendy released an add on set that included a front pocket design, the pocket insert, and more flowers and leaves.

This was a super sweet project that came together fairly quickly - once I figure out how to make the cover (only took two tries! LOL!). I created a small album to showcase some of my recent hiking pictures, but this would be great for new baby pictures, a birthday, or even a mini journal. I plan to use the back of my inserts (photo on the front) to write some notes about each of our hikes. More pictures, a video, and list of products listed below. Enjoy!

Hey, Birthday Girl Scrapbook Layout

Hi all! I hope that everyone out there in blog land is doing well and have been able to get your crafty on this past week! Crafting is a rather slow process for me now, as I only have a few hours each week to devote to making pretty things and using fun products, but I'm glad that I was able to create this page. Funny, my birthday is in mid-August, when I started this page, and I just finished it a few days ago. Phew! That said, is was joyful to be able to create and to contemplate what drove this page...my last year in my 50's! I can hardly believe it, but next year I turn 60! When the Bible says that live is but a vapor...I think it might have been an exaggeration. LOL! It feels like less than a vapor lately - time is passing more and more quickly the older I get. But, I am so grateful for another year of life - what a tremendous blessing!

As with my last page, this one features a lot of older products, but some newer ones as well. I'm fortunate to live fairly close to the Butterfly Reflections Ink stamp store and so after I shop I create a basket of new goodies that need to be used. Some of the dies on this week's project are from that "new to me" basket.

And now for true confessions - this picture was from a few years ago. *wink* I had to laugh as I was looking through my photos, realizing that not only are there not many photos of me, there are even fewer with just me and even less of just me that are worth putting on a scrapbook page. LOL! This was a random selfie I took a few years ago on a business trip. It was more about capturing the moment to post on Instagram, with other photos from the trip, vs. just taking a picture but I thought that the bright yellow shirt worked with the yellow in the paper so this is the one I choose.

I hope you enjoy this week's page! I actually just ordered a new stamp set so maybe a card video will be up next... Check out the full project video below and happy crafting!

Stampotique Guest Designer - Art Journal Layout

Greetings and welcome back to week two of my Stampotique guest designer post! This week our challenge is all about pets and I cracked up when I saw the sentiments in the stamp that I used with today's project. It's the perfect match to go with this darling cat image. If you have cats, you know exactly what I'm talking about! LOL! Today's project was a super simple project that I combined with some scrap paper I created years ago at a gelli plate glass. Don't throw out those papers...you'll use them eventually! I also have another video for you this week so sit back, relax, and enjoy the show! Happy Crafting!

During this month, I will be posting a project every week so be sure to check back next week! Each week Stampotique includes a theme or challenge for their posts and this week it was to use cardboard in your project. I opted to create an art journal layout using products from Dina Wakley and Stampotique. And to make these super easy, I have a step-by-step video for you to watch to see how this project came together. Product links below the video.
