Make Art

Greetings friends! Today I'm sharing a Wendy Vecchi inspired card, featuring oddles of Wendy's stamps, stencils, and inks. No step-by-step today...this was a card I create just for fun to celebrate the release of lots of new Wendy Vecchi products! (You can visit The Funkie Junkie Boutique to pre-order all of the CHA goodies!)

I started this card by creating a background using Wendy's Archival Re-Inkers and Specialty Stamping Paper. See this post on Wendy's blog to see her technique for creating these fun and super easy backgrounds.

Next I created lots of layers by utilizing my stash of stencils. (Full supply list at the end of this post). I use the same ink colors with my stencils that I used in the background. This keeps the background from competing with my main images. My last stencil choice always gets matched with Jet Black Archival Ink for that little bit of pop. (Every creation needs black ink!)

I created the oval window on my card by tracing around a mask from one of Wendy's stencil/mask sets. I use this set constantly!

I confess that the images I used for this card are from an older Wendy set, I'll try to find a link for you. All of my images were stamped in archival ink and then colored with Tim Holtz Distress Markers. The flower image was watercolored with Peerless watercolors. Once all of my pieces were completed, I fussy cut them and added some Glossy Accents to every piece. You can just see the shine in the photo above.

The "shelf" was created by using an Arts Parts piece that was covered with vintage text paper. I stamped over the paper and added some twine and a random metal piece.

Before I assembled my card, I added some stamped leafs in the background, just to add more fullness to the entire layout.

Once my individual pieces were completed, I attached everything with a combination of liquid glue and foam tape. This combo creates great dimension on any craft project. The sentiment was stamped on cardstock and then each word was cut out and attached to the card. Cutting the words apart allows me to put a sentiment in any type of layout I want vs. being tied to the exact layout of the stamp. Some faux stitching, from one of my very favorite Wendy stamps ever, was my finishing touch.

I hope you enjoyed today's card! I'll be back in a few days with this week's Inspiration Wednesday project! Can't wait to share...it's dreamy... Check out the links below to purchase products used on my card.

Summer Die-Version Blog Hop with Sweet 'n Sassy

Surprise!  Isn't this super exciting...two Sweet 'n Sassy releases in one month!  And oh, my did I have a great time playing along with these new dies...can't wait to share!!  Let's get started!

My first card features the new Shapes dies and wow...think of all of the possibilities with this set!  When I first saw the set, the first shape that popped out was the petal shape and I instantly knew I wanted a flower but what paper to use?  That's when the light bulb went off!  I've been hoarding a boatload of paper towels that are covered with Dylusions Ink Sprays (I use the paper towels to blot off excess ink).  The colors are just amazing and blend so well together that I never wanted to toss the towels; knowing I'd use them eventually.

So I cut out a whole bunch of petals from my paper towels, punched out a circle as a foundation for the petals and started gluing!  The I just added a button to finish the flower.  Then I twisted some ribbon to make a stem and added to more petal shaped die cuts as leaves.  The cherished friend sentiment is from the Long Stem Silhouettes stamp set.  Fun, fun, fun!
My next card features the super fun Small Leaves die set (and a sentiment from the Season of Change stamp set).  I started by spritzing a few Dylusions Ink Sprays onto a piece of plain cardstock (and then created more of that custom paper towel paper...for later...) and attached it to my card base.  Once the leaves were cut out, I ran them all through an embossing folder, and attached them to my card with foam tape.  Easy peasy!  This is a great quick and easy layout for just about any image, die cuts, or design!
My last card features the darling Waves die set and since I love not too far from the beach, I simply had to go all beachy for this creation!  I started by using the Tiny Circles stencil and two different colors of Distress Ink to create a "sand" look.  Then I die cut the waves out of a light and dark blue cardstock and attached them to the top of my beach.  Those pretty shells are from the Beauty by the Sea stamp set and I stamped them on cardstock, cut them out, and edged them with Distress Ink before attaching with foam tape.  I then die cut the clouds (I think I should have added some sun rays behind the clouds, right?) from the Clouds & Raindrops die set and attached them both with foam tape ('cause I love that stuff!)  The sentiment, from the Head in the Clouds stamp set, was stamped on white cardstock and then the words were cut apart before attaching.

That's it for me today!  I hope you enjoyed the cards and now you can take a look at the entire sets, listed below, along with links to the rest of the design team's creations!
