Sweet 'n Sassy Sneak Peek - Take Two

How about one more sneak peek with the soon-to-be-released stamp set from Sweet 'n Sassy! This is from the Seeing Spots stamp set, which I just love! This is one of those sets that where card ideas pop in to my head throughout the day! Although I confess that today's card is a shameless CAS from the new SU! catalog! **smile** I love showcasing these small images in different colors. I simply added a few embossed lines around the outside of my card, clear rhinestones, which are colored with Copic markers to match the ink color, and an embossed label behind the stamped images. Easy peasy!

Sweet 'n Sassy Sneak Peek

Welcome to day two of the Sweet 'n Sassy sneak peeks! Oh, how I love the days leading up to release day!! It's so much fun to see the teams creations and get a peek at some of the images that will be included in the new sets.

Today I'm excited to share a card made with the "Seeing Spots" set. Can you guess what it has that name? That's right, it's a set full of darling round images and small sentiments! My card is showcasing the butterfly image, which I stamped four times in Mustard Yellow Distress Ink. I used a 1" circle punch to punch out the images and then attached them with foam tape to the four squares. The designer paper is from October Afternoon and the rhinestone swirl is from one of those big 'ol craft stores that shall remain unnamed. :-) I also added tiny pearls to the butterflies to act as little bodies.

Altered Wooden Frame

Hey, we're back to the crafty posts! That's a fabulous thing! I'm hoping to have time to clean my craft room today because I can barely find a spot to sit down in there right now and if I don't clean, I don't have room to stamp...and that's a bad thing! LOL!

Today's project is one that I'll be demonstrating at a Wholly Scrap! class tomorrow night...an altered wooden frame. So many options with these inexpensive frames that can be found at just about any craft store. I think I paid a dollar for this one, which I purchased at Ben Franklin.

I initially purchased the frames to paint on them but after seeing Julie's Stamping Around OH project, I promptly changed my mind! (I'm not sure when Julie will post her project but check back to her blog often because it is adorable!!!) This is a fairly easy project that only requires designer paper, glue, and embellishments. I covered my frame in paper from October Afternoon. The little houses are from a Tim Holtz die, Artful Dwellings. This fun die allows you to cut out a number of little houses and then I just added roofs, doors, and windows. Very fun!

I then added a paper flower, using the Tim Holtz Tattered Flowers die, some swirly rhinestones, from Zva, and a sentiment from Gina K. Now...the most fun part of this project, which I shamelessly copied from Julie (she got her idea from a Cat's Pajamas project) was to add the cork to the inside of the frame. I love that! What I love even more is stamping on the cork! The sentiment I used is from Tim Holtz and my plan is to use a photo program to give a Polaroid look to photos of my two boys and attach the photos to the cork with decorative straight pins. Isn't that so much fun!! Oh, I can't wait for this class...we're going to have a blast creating! A HUGE thanks to Julie for letting me CAS her idea!!

I'm Back!

I'm officially back from our Stamping Around Ohio event!! And what a fantastic time we had in Ohio! Tammy Hershberger did an amazing job of hosting our event and getting the event room set up with tables, chairs, and drinks. We all were thrilled to be able to shop at Toyrifix, which not only had a lovely display of stamping products (just ask me how much I came home with!) but also had the best toys on the market. Great store!! If you're ever in the Smithville, Wooster, or even Cleveland, OH area, please stop by and visit this great store and then have lunch at The Barn Restaurant...good eats!

We had the most wonderful teachers at this event, a shocking amount of giveways (thank you sponsors), fabulous food (I'm quite sure I gained five pounds in two days), and beautiful weather. Ah, it was a great time! And I came home with not only five pounds on my hips but five pounds worth of stamps so stay tuned for lots of fun projects using all the new goodies!! I can't wait to get stamping!!

A Little Crabby

Not that I've ever been a little crabby and needed to apologize...right...

Hey gang! I'm checking in for the last time this week because tomorrow I'm headed out to the Stamping Around Ohio event! WooHoo! Can't wait to see all my stamping buddies and spend a few days stamping! Fun stuff!

Today's card was featured on the Sweet 'n Sassy blog a few days ago but I thought I'd share it here too, in case you missed it. This card features a darling crab image (and sentiment) from the Happy Ocean Friends stamp set, which is the cutest set ever!

Simple card design; I focused most of my efforts on the small square (only 2.5" x 2.5") in the middle of the card. A few sponged clouds, some kraft cardstock sand, a punched circle for a sun, and a little crabby popped up on foam tape.

Sweet 'n Sassy Sketch Challenge

Hey, guess what? This week Sweet 'n Sassy is hosting the sketch challenge on Splitcoast! And the sketch is a super easy one...only three layers! It's perfect for either a CAS or super layered card. You can check out the details here.

I was thrilled to have time to create a card this afternoon. I opted to use the main image spapce to highlight a word stamp. This is the Psalm 23 stamp from Sweet 'n Sassy and it's an great stamp because it not only features the text from Psalm 23 but it also includes a short description about what the verses point to. For example, "I shall not want...that's supply."

For my paper I used some beautiful designs from the Cosmo Cricket Cira 1934 paper stack. Love the colors and designs in this set! I then created a color background, using Distress Ink and sponges, for the image. (The dots are created by dropping water on to the ink paper; the water acts as bleach.) I simply added a few rhinestones and a butterfly.

Sweet Summer

I have no doubt that summer has officially arrived in New England! We have warm (even crazy hot) days, afternoon thunderstorms, the A/C is running, and yesterday I picked my first batch of strawberries from our garden! That being the case, I needed to celebrate the arrival of warm weather (and fresh strawberries) with a Sweet Summer Cocoa card!

Today's card features that darling Sweet 'n Sassy mouse, Cocoa! This image is from the Feeling Fruity stamp set. I colored Cocoa with Copics and adorned her with lovely summery paper from Kaiser Craft. The pearl swirl is from Zva Creative and the ladybug is from Petaloo.
