Hey, Hey, It's Digi Day!

It's digi day over at the Sweet 'n Sassy group on Paper Craft Planet and I'm today's host - yeah!! Today's challenge is to use Purple and Green on your card. And if you play along with our challenge you'll be eligible to win the early bird prize (when you post your card by midnight EST tonight). Our early bird prize today is this beautiful floral image, February Iris. And just for playing along this week (by next Thursday morning) you'll receive this darling image (that I believe was drawn by Korin's son!!), Monster Friends. Now this would be a great image to use with some purple and green...and maybe aluminum! :-) You don't have to use Sweet 'n Sassy images to play along with the challenge, but if you have some, why not show them some love? We love seeing what you create with our images. We may even spotlight YOU in our next Sunday Customer Spotlight!! For my card, I used the Water Lilly image and yes, I know lilly's should be pink but mine is the very purple lilly, rarely seen in nature or by scientists! LOL! I love this image and couldn't wait to color it for today's challenge!! My sentiment is from the Flower Sentiments set, a digi set that contains four flower-themed sayings. My image has been paired with some Graphic 45 paper and a strip of purple embossed cardstock. I added tiny rhinestones from Taylored Expressions to the flower's stamen. I also used an exacto knife to cut out a few of the flower petals so that I could raise them up a bit for a little added dimension. Fun stuff!! Please visit the SNSS PCP page today to check out the other posts!!

Sweet Shop Challenge

This weekend The Sweet Shop posted another sweet sketch challenge! I love that extra panel off to the side; what a great way to add some color and pattern to a card! I colored up this little popcorn guy a few weeks ago and have been itching to use him ever since...isn't he cute? And I love the sentiments that go along with this digital set by Sweet 'n Sassy, Poppin' By, this one on my card and another that says "just poppin' by to say hello!" I paired Mr. Popcorn with some lovely s.e.i. paper from Wholly Scrap!. My fabric flower is from SU! and I added a little big of sparkle to the flower with some Stickles. Pop on over to The Sweet Shop and check out the eye candy posted by the design team...And there's even a chance for you to participate in this week's challenge. Just create a card and link to your blog or gallery!! Enjoy!

Keep it Simple Monday

Yes...I know....it's Monday, right? I somehow lost the entire weekend...is that possible? LOL! My poor hubby has been so sick, in bed for almost three days straight, and so that has left Mama with two kiddies, a full day of work, a class, a birthday party, church, dinners....well, you get the picture...it's been a busy weekend!! And it's going to be a busy week because this weekend is...STAMPING AROUND!! So excited to have a weekend event here in NH, and at Wholly Scrap!, really looking forward to it! Now to just avoid the evil germs that are sure to be floating around our house. Does anyone own a hazmat suit? So here's the low down for this week...Today, Keep it Simple card is a card that I'll be teaching at Wholly Scrap! on Thursday night. Our class will create four cards using this darling imaginisce robot stamp and matching paper. It's a beginner stamping class so the cards are all quick and easy...this is my favorite one of the bunch! The cute "rock on" sentiment is actually cut out from one of the paper...fun! The coloring during these classes are kept simple, just one or two Copic markers used, and a hint of DP and simple layering. Next on the list is a Sweet Shop sketch challenge post tomorrow, I have hosting duties on the Sweet 'n Sassy Paper Craft Planet site on Thursday (a free digi will be available!), and then it's off to Wholly Scrap! for the weekend! I'll do my best to post some photos from our big event so stay tuned and check back often!! Enjoy!

Rainy Day Digi Giveaway

Hey there...it's Thursday and guess what that means? It's another Sweet 'n Sassy digi day over at Scrapbook News & Review and Paper Craft Planet! Starting in April, we're posting a challenge on both sites!! Today's challenge is "Let it Rain", which couldn't be more perfect for those of us living in the Northeast. We've had more rain than we know what to do with lately! After almost a month, many of us are still pumping water out of our basements and I believe rain is predicted for today! Oh, good times!! LOL! For today's challenge, I used this darling Rainy Day Teddy image that is being given away, for free, on both the SNR and PCP sites!! But there's more...if you create a card during the challenge, and post it on either site, you'll receive a 25% off coupon! My teddy bear has been colored with Copics and I highlighted the black spots, buttons, and teddy's nose, with a black glaze pen (see above). This darling paper is from Jillibean Soup, purchased at Wholly Scrap. And I can take no credit for the fun grass design...it's an idea I got from Deb Olsen...the queen of crafting! :-) The sentiment is from a retired acrylic SNSS set, since I had completely forgotten to print one out last night, but I think it's just perfect for us water logged folks...We can rejoice evermore (in Christ)...even in the midst of flooded basements and soggy belongings! :-) Enjoy!!

Blog Hop Winner & Keep it Simple Card

First things first...Thank you all so much for your lovely comments during yesterday's blog hop! Wasn't it fun to see all the wonderful Sweet 'n Sassy images!! And next for the winner of the Milton Reading digi image...it's.... Congratulations Vicki!! Please contact me at ksdm@comcast.net to redeem your image. Next...here is Sunday's Keep it Simple card! This is a card using the 'chalkboard' technique, which I'll be teaching at Wholly Scrap class on Friday evening. I'll also be teaching the 'bleaching' and 'acrylic resist' techniques, using Tim Holtz's brand new stamp sets!! The chalkboard technique is super easy...To create this look, use VersaMark ink to stamp a solid image on to dark (I used a dark grey) cardstock. Then use chalks to dab color onto the stamped image. Use a swiffer cloth to get rid of any extra chalk. That's it! Super easy and a super easy card! The DP is a new release from Basic Grey and the ribbon is from Papertreyink. The little butterfly is also from the new Tim Holtz sets. Enjoy!!
