12 Tags of Christmas - Day One!! New Design Team Info!!

***Please scroll down for details on the new Tiffany Doodles design team!!***

WooHoo!! I am so excited about the arrival of the 12 Tags of Christmas! This is such a fun time of year when creating these tags allows you to learn new techniques, experiment with new products, and stretch your creativity! Love it!! If you follow Tim's tags, you'll recognize this as the first one he created on December 1. For this tag, I decided to recreate it as closely to Tim's tag as possible because of the great technique used to create the house. However, I don't own the house die (now on my wish list!) or the picket fence die or the twig trees from Prima (another item for the wish list!). I didn't even have the ticket die or stamp but since I work in the best scrapbook store on the east coast...grabbing those bad boys while at work yesterday was a piece of cake! :-) (PS - ADORE the ticket die and coordinating stamps!!) Let's get started!! For my house I asked my hubby to draw one for me on cardstock and then I followed Tim's directions for creating the amazing "wood" shingles....Fabulous technique!! I opted to create the look of light coming through the windows so I colored a piece of vellum with a yellow Copic marker before attaching it to the underside of the house. I then used white embossing powder (a VersaMark pen was used to adhere the powder) to create the snow and then added Stickles to the top of the embossing powder. Even though I don't have any of those nifty tree twigs from Prima (I ended up, after I created the tag of course, thinking of a way to recreate the twigs with just cardstock), I did have Tim's pine tree die cut, which I used for my tree. White embossing powder and Stickles added more snow to the tree. And...no picket fence die either but I did just pick up a Martha Stewart fence punch, which worked perfectly. I also didn't have white crackle paint so I used my green and then aged it, added snow, etc. (After finished, I realized I would have preferred the white fence...next time...)

I used markers to create different colors on the ticket stamp but Tim's technique on creating your own custom inkers is wonderful. Check it out here...
As for that fun little wreath that Tim added to his tag....yup...didn't have that either. ;-) So...I punched out a scalloped circle and then crinkled the daylights out of it until I could pull apart the paper layers. I then folded and smooshed some more until it was in a good wreath shape (oh yeah, I also punched out the middle of the circle) before attaching to the house. I added some ribbon and red stickles as decoration. A tiny puff of cotton smoke was the finishing touch! Exciting, exciting, exciting!!! Now on to day two... And now for Tiffany Doodles news!! We thrilled to announce a few design team! You can link to the new gals blogs from the list below...And get ready for the December challange, which will be announced on December 7th.
